Life Fitness

For more than 45 years, Life Fitness has been dedicated to creating fitness solutions that benefit both facilities and exercisers. Their mission to keep people active started with the Lifecycle exercise bike and continues with the widest range of cardio, strength and group training products in the fitness industry.

At Life Fitness the mission is to develop fitness solutions that get the world moving. And they feel that it’s extremely important to practice what they preach. The culture at Life Fitness revolves around what the products stand for—active and healthy living. Gym bags are as common as coffee mugs at the global headquarters outside of Chicago and at the nine other offices worldwide. Product showrooms double as bustling employee gyms, and lively group workouts are an important part of the daily routine.

The best way to know everything about our fitness products is to use them every day. Helping people live healthier lives is what Life Fitness does, and the devotion to that goal begins with their own employees.

Life Fitness innovation begins with product design and conception and doesn't end until the fitness equipment ships out of the warehouse. It's essential to creating the best fitness equipment in the industry.

Product Innovation

Design

Great design eloquently solves a problem with intelligence and simplicity. Life Fitness meshes design with engineering and make sure they work together according to what users want or need. Life Fitness has a dedicated biomechanics team in fitness studies how people and machines interact. The result is equipment that is inviting to all exercisers. Life Fitness began in-house biomechanics testing in 2000 and was the first in the fitness industry to see the need for, and create, a biomechanics testing lab. A range of tests ensure that products move the way the human body is supposed to, and they provide results.

Testing

Extensive testing in the $4 million reliability lab at Life Fitness ensures the products meet the highest global standards and are built to last in any environment. Life Fitness products are put through a rigorous testing regimen, which means they're ready to stand up to rugged use in the busiest of facilities.

Production

Life Fitness maintains ISO 9001 certification and manufacturers equipment under the highest quality standards. 3% of products are randomly selected from the production line, assembled and tested before being shipped. The experienced testers at Life Fitness can detect even the slightest equipment flaw. For more than 20 years, Charles Long Jr. has been making sure Life Fitness treadmills live up to rigorous standards. He and three other inspectors try out treadmills, while each is still on the production line, to ensure that they're ready to ship. Charles walks on 50 new treadmills each day and puts in more than 250 miles in a year.

Digital Experience

The foundation of Life Fitness is based on technology. In 1968, Life Fitness created the Lifecycle exercise bike. It employed groundbreaking technology and was the first piece of electronic exercise equipment ever created. Over the next four decades, they've taken the steps needed to stay ahead of technology.

App Partnerships

Life Fitness equipment interacts with popular fitness apps to provide exercisers with the connection they expect.

Wearable integration

Through LFconnect.com, FitBit and Jawbone wearable tracking devices provide immediate and accurate results after workouts on select Life Fitness cardio equipment.

Effortless connection

Bluetooth compatibility connects exercisers to equipment for workout tracking, hands-free heart rate monitoring, and enhanced entertainment.
