Hornet Fitness Center – Big Lake High School’s Facility

The space is now open for student use and, via Big Lake Community Education, also to community members—with memberships, personal training, and group fitness classes available.

Equipment & Facility Features

  • Commercial-grade cardio machines, such as treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals, to support both student-athletes and general wellness programs.
  • Free weights and strength zones, likely with racks, dumbbells, benches, and functional accessories.
  • Functional training space, group fitness or circuit areas, reflecting the expanded programming offered through community education.
  • Modern facility design, aimed to support multi-use training, student teams, and classes in a safe and efficient layout.

Purpose & Impact

  • The center serves dual roles: structured strength training for PE and athletic programs, and flexible wellness programming via enrichment classes.
  • Group fitness and personal training, with expanded access for community members.
  • The fitness center aligns with the district’s strategic goal of supporting athletics, well-being, and community collaboration.

Big Lake High School’s upgraded Hornet Fitness Center offers a modern, community-accessible wellness and strength training space. Funded by a 2021 bond, it opened in early 2024 and now supports student PE, sports teams, and public fitness programming through a well-equipped and welcoming facility.
