New Hartford High School – Athlete Performance-Driven Fitness
Dike-New Hartford High School in Iowa has recently undergone significant upgrades to its athletic facilities, enhancing both student-athlete performance and overall school infrastructure.
Fitness Center Enhancements
As part of a $17.9 million renovation project approved by voters, the high school has seen comprehensive improvements, including:
- Mechanical Upgrades: Replacement of outdated heating systems with modern heating and cooling units, ensuring a comfortable environment for all athletic activities.
- Gymnasium Expansion: The addition of a new 15,000-square-foot gymnasium, providing ample space for physical education classes and extracurricular activities.
- Classroom Renovations: Upgrades to science classrooms, enhancing the learning environment for students.
Athletic Facility Additions
In addition to the indoor improvements, the district has invested in outdoor athletic facilities:
- Turf Field and Track Upgrades: Scheduled for resurfacing, drainage improvements, and the addition of a steeplechase lane, jump pits, and LED lighting in 2025. These enhancements are part of the Phase 1 Health, Energy, and Academics Project.
Coaches Meeting Room
Recognizing the need for dedicated space, the district has initiated a project to extend the football shed, creating a coaches' meeting room. This facility will include offices, modern amenities like projectors and whiteboards, and heating and cooling for year-round use. The project was made possible through generous community donations.
