Mandan High School - A Standout Renovated Weight Room
The new Mandan High School, completed in late 2024, was built as part of a campus replacement project designed to accommodate future growth and modern educational needs. The facility spans 335,000 sq ft—double the size of the previous building—with extensive upgrades including advanced athletics and technical education spaces.
A standout feature is the renovated weight room, built to serve as a central hub for strength and conditioning programming across the entire student body.
Key Equipment & Design Features
- Heavy‑duty power racks and half‑racks that support strength workouts for hundreds of students at a time
- Functional turf area and bay systems to support movement drills, conditioning, and athletic programming
- Branded custom bumper plates and bay systems, featuring the school’s Braves logo, reinforcing school identity and pride
- Fully air-conditioned space—a significant upgrade from the previous design, offering better comfort and usability year-round
Usage & Experience
- The room now allows up to 300 students per weightlifting class, making integrated programming easier and more efficient.
- The strength and conditioning coach highlighted improved layout and access to equipment—each rack now has a complete set of dumbbells from 5 to 100 lbs, reducing time wasted searching for weights.
- Students appreciate the unified space that fosters social support and visible peer participation:
“At the old high school … rooms were separated … now it’s really nice … you can all kind of be seeing what everyone’s doing, supporting each other.” —student Abby L.
The Mandan High School workout room is a standout facility in the new campus—offering upgraded, durable equipment in a thoughtfully designed, branded space that supports large-scale student participation. Introduced in fall 2024, it marks a major improvement in training capacity and student-athlete development.
