The University of North Dakota (UND) Student Wellness Center, a premier ~106,000 sq ft facility dedicated to promoting comprehensive wellness for students, faculty, staff, and affiliates - is a foundational building in University Village. It was conceived to support the seven dimensions of wellness—physical, mental, social, emotional, occupational, intellectual, and environmental. Today, it’s recognized for its award-winning design and holistic approach to campus health.
The center features:
- Spectacular Royse Atrium with a skylight and themed wellness pillars
- Multiple courts, indoor track, rock wall, cycling studios, and demo kitchen
- Casual and quiet lounges for relaxation or mindful reflection
Fitness Equipment & Layout
Weight Floor
- Divided into three lifting zones designed to suit varying training levels
- Equipped with squat racks, dumbbells, leg press machines, chest press, cable machines
- Olympic-style lifts and powerlifting not permitted in this area
- Free equipment orientation sessions are available for new users
Circuit Deck
- Offers a guided, timed workout combining cardio and strength at each station
- Users rotate every minute, with custom interval lighting and machine transitions
- Designed to deliver a full-body workout in 15–30 minutes
Cardio Deck & Indoor Track
- The cardio deck spans around 5,000 sq ft, housing 65+ machines: treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, and rowers—each with personal video screens
- A 200-meter, three-lane elevated track surrounds the deck for jogging, running, and walking routines
Functional & Specialty Zones
- TRX suspension training area located within the weight floor
- Plyometrics zone overlooking Multi‑Activity Court with box jumps, speed bags, pull-up bars, ab rollers
- Punching bags, stretch mats, medicine balls, foam rollers for dynamic and recovery training
Supporting Services & Amenities
- Fitness Desk (First Floor): Book equipment orientations, sign up for personal training, and borrow small gear with your ID.
- Fitness Services: Free equipment and weight training orientations, body composition testing (InBody), and strength assessments—all included with membership.
- Group Exercise Studios & Cycling Studio: Dedicated spaces for yoga, dance, HIIT, cycling/night rides with strobe and disco lighting.
- Rock Wall: A soaring 28-foot climbing wall for top-rope and bouldering—with regular events and clinics.
